‘The agony of growing older’

The first sign is gray hairs,
shortly followed by wrinkles.
In the beginning they’re only noticeable
whenever your forehead crinkles.

Soon comes the aches
of muscle and joint pain.
The arthritis you suffer from
is intensified by rain.

To add insult to injury,
your memory starts to go.
The location of put away things
you no longer know.

Over the years your body starts to break down and decay.
You spend your time remembering life before youth slipped away.

In the end you shiver and shake
while your blood grows colder.
No one escapes the disease of life,
the agony of growing older.
