‘The one you scorn’

They march to the top,
upon the bodies of men.
Campaigns of triumph,
with morals quite thin.
Ambitions established
and cast to the wind.
No loyalty recognized
among kith or kin.

Follow the golden rule;
never break or bend.
If an alliance is severed
take the time to mend.
If help is ever needed;
a hand you must lend.
The enemy you scorn
could soon be a friend.
