‘The fist or the lash’

For every slight perceived;
whether imaginary or real.
At the ending of our day;
it’s about what we feel.
For any wrongs received,
It matters how you deal.
After all is said and done,
‘humble pie’ is the meal.

Taking a moral ‘high road’
is never the easy choice.
We use fists for violence;
or lash out with our voice.
We plot petty paybacks;
or plan for cold revenge.
It’s hard to let things go;
if the ego wants to win.

Deep within every man,
is a golden ball of pride.
What he must release,
is this limitation inside.
Humility is essential
To keep at our side.
