‘Peering into the abyss’

It’s obvious to most people that chaos reigns in the abyss. We know that fascinating, infuriating, and appalling things happen there on a daily basis. It’s tempting to stand at the very edge and peer down into the darkness. We want to observe the war with sanity and justice. However to do so, is to be sucked in to the ugliness that breeds there. It demands and compels us to open our mouths and speak.

Unfortunately the vibrations and weight of our words erode the edge. Without warning, the edge collapses and we are enveloped. Many of us aren’t even aware that we have fallen in to the expanding pit. Resist the urge to stare at the political or social chaos within. Look away. No good can come from falling in. Chaos needs fuel to breed. I’m crawling out and invite you to join me.
