‘View from the edge’

On the edge the view is clear;
Life above and death below.
One foot forward and all is lost.
Either step back, or off you go.

Emotional clarity has a price.
Your innocence is often lost.
The curtain of truth lifted up
but few pay the deadly cost.

A cold glance into the abyss.
Deep into an undiluted truth.
Wisdom may come with age
but folly craves eternal youth.
